Danse Macabre

Danse Macabre is an orchestral poem composed by Camille Saint-Saëns, alluding to the medieval allegory of Death summoning skeletons to dance. The artwork was expanded and reworked by replacing the vocal line with a solo violin in 1874, and it premiered one year later. Danse Macabre explores themes of death, mortality, and supernaturality.
